ambigram: friday.the-(thirteenth)

ambigram: friday.the-thirteenth

The finished, refined product.

freaking incredible. i must admit that after looking at your ambigrams, i now realize how amateur i am. very nice work.

out of curiosity, how does one get better at ambigramming? for example, could i take classes at an university, or..? also, what program are you using to design on the computer? are you using any special tools? right now i'm drawing mine out by hand, and then with paint.

your advice on ambigrams would really be appreciated. thanks!! and really nice work on your ambigrams.

hi, thanks guys..

#balaji: we've experimented with a few alternatives and opted for the'lengthened e' look. guess it worked.

#ajay: your name inverts to 'here' and the phrase 'wow man' rotates naturally to 'new mom'.. hmm.. thanks for visiting!

#me: the best form of ambigrams need not be too complex, readability and aesthetics are the two primary imaportant things to watch out for.. an ambigram done using hand and paint is not 'amateur', it's just simpler (like how indie films are not 'less-good'. we started with handrawn designs painted with coloured pencils! now its handrawn and coloured using photoshop. the computer softwares are just tools to 'package' your idea in a more 'vivid' way..

the outcome is perfect, bro! this is definitely one of my favourite piece of your work. congrats and keep them coming!

by the way, you mentioned about your ambigrams are refined using photoshop, do you use the aids of graphic tablet, or simply scanning the designs into the computer?

salam, adi..

one of our favourites too, but we couldn't wait for October for THE Friday the thirteenth, so there.. haha..

our process, though seemed refined, is rather primitive: drawing, scanning and simply putting in colours using photoshop (as compared to coloured pencils in days of yore!, that's what we meant by 'refining'), no trimming or smoothening of the edges, sadly, I mean just enlarge our'angel-devil reflection' and observe the 'dotty' outlines.. that's primitive and unrefined, bro.. THAT'S 'amateurish'!

tksih for the comments..
